60S STAR BARDOT THREATENS EXILE OVER ELEPHANTS
Former actress and 60s sex symbol Brigitte Bardot has threatened to leave France over a fight to save the lives of two elephants. The two animals are scheduled to be euthanised and are dying of tuberculosis in a zoo.
Following her retirement from the entertainment industry, Bardot became an animal rights activist. In a press release from her website, she called France a “country that is now just a graveyard for animals.” She claims that she will leave France and request Russian citizenship if the government does not intervene in the case.
“If the powers that be have the cowardice and the shamelessness to kill Baby and Nepal I have decided to take Russian nationality and quit this country that is nothing more an animal cemetery.”
The elephants are currently at a zoo in Lyon and were due to be euthanised in December, but a petition created by their former circus owner resulted in the animals getting a temporary stay.
